New York Avant-Garde Arts Festival

The New York Avant-Garde Arts Festival features an original short-performance piece competition with artists from all over the United States of America and Canada. This year’s festival also includes two co-produced productions. VTG Artistic Director Rich Ferraioli said, “We are really excited to get to work with so many new and talented artists. Part of our mission is to provide an opportunity for original works to be showcased and performed. This festival is exactly that outlet!”

Fashion Week
A week-long series of runway shows where over 100 designers show off their collections for upcoming seasons. There are over 200 of parties and celebrations during New York Fashion Week, which occurs twice yearly, in February and again in September.

April Events
 

The Circus Walk
At midnight the animals from Ringling Brothers' Barnum & Bailey Circus parade to Madison Square Garden.

Tribeca Film Festival
Annual two-week film festival on screens around New York City. For 2012, the 11th edition will present 90 feature films.

Egg Rolling Contest
Easter Sun
Children's festival including an egg-rolling contest in Central Park.

September Events

Festival of the Feast of San Gennaro
Boisterous event in honor of the patron saint of Naples, held along Mulberry St. in Manhattn's Little Italy. The saint's statue is carried through the streets with donations of dollar bills pinned to his cloak. See one of the Feast of San Gennaro websites for additional information. Typically celebrated in the last two weeks of September.

New York Film Festival
Two week film festival at various local theatres beginning in late September.
Venues include Lincoln Center, Walter Reed Theatre & two Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center theatres.
